Diet Description:
This book is an updated version of the original Scarsdale diet first published in the 1970's. Tarnower created the Scarsdale Diet after years of knowledge gained in medical practice. Basically the diet plan provides: 43 percent protein, 22.5 percent fat and 34.5 percent carbohydrates. You follow the weight-reducing plan (about 1000 calories) for 2 weeks at a time and then follow it up with the Scarsdale keep-trim diet plan. The keep-trim diet program allows more calories but also contains a larger number of banned foods.

Weight Loss Diet Advice

Fad diets or other unbalanced weight loss plans do not lead to lasting weight loss and may contain too few calories and inadequate nutrition. For sustained weight loss, the best diet is usually a balanced diet with foods from all the nutritional food groups, which offers realistic weight reduction goals and provides a manageable eating plan.
