30 minutes of aerobic exercise burns about 230 calories. This is based on a 150-pound person. If you weigh more, you’ll burn extra calories; if you weigh less, you’ll burn fewer calories.

Aerobic Training - How Often For Optimum Weight Loss?

Beginner
10 to 20 minutes a day, 3 days a week.
Target heart rate: about 60 to 65 percent of maximum

Medium
20 to 30 minutes, 3 to 5 days a week.
Target heart rate: about 65 to 75 percent of maximum.

Advanced
30 to 40 minutes, 3 to 5 days a week.
Target heart rate: about 75 to 85 percent of maximum.

Aerobic Training - How to start

Start with an introductory class or video – called low-impact or no-impact aerobics. This puts less stress on the joints. Warming up is important (a gentle walking on the spot for example) as it helps our body to burn calories more efficiently by increasing the core body temperature. It also helps the muscles to work faster and improves muscle elasticity.
