Guide to Thigh ExerciseThigh Muscles - Genetic Shape and SizeThe shape and size of the thigh muscle is genetic. Thigh muscles can be long and lean, or short and broad. If you have surplus body fat stored in your thighs, then you should combine exercise with a healthy calorie-controlled diet to reduce this stored fat. What are the Thigh MusclesThe thighs are made up of a number of muscles: the quadriceps (the muscles on the front of the thigh), the hamstrings (the back thigh muscles), the abductors and adductors (the inner and outer thigh muscles). The inner thigh muscles include adductor longus, satorius and gracillis. The adductor longus is the largest of these leg muscles. The adductor magnus is an inner thigh muscle at the center-back of the thigh. This muscle is not exercised much in our normal daily activity and needs to be worked on to tighten and tone the inner thigh. Building and Toning Thigh MusclesIn general, the inner and outer thighs - the abductors and adductors - are the most difficult to tone as we do not use them in our normal daily activity. Exercises like walking, jogging, running, treadmill-exercise and cycling are all good activities to strengthen and tone thigh muscles. List of Fitness ExercisesAbdominal
