Sit-Ups are a Form of Abdominal Exercise

"Sit-Ups" is the term used mainly to describe a range of abdominal exercises. The abdominal muscles, more commonly known as "Abs", are a group of four muscles that shape the torso. Sit-Ups are particularly effective for the upper and lower ab muscles.

Sit-Ups Develop Upper and Lower Ab Muscles

Running down the front of the body is the rectus abdominis, also known as the upper and lower abs. The rectus abdominis is the muscle closest to the surface and this is the muscle you can see when you develop your abs. Toning the rectus abdominis gives you the "six pack" look. Upper abs exercises include Sit-Ups, Curls, Knee Up Abdominal Crunches, and Abdominal Pelvic Tilt. Lower ab exercises include Sit Ups and Lower Ab Crunches.

Sit-Up Exercises

Sit-Ups are performed lying flat on the floor and raising your head upwards towards your knees. It is important to keep your lower back on the floor while performing these exercises to prevent muscle strain.
